26/12/2025 – Poker Hand

In a game of Poker, my opponent has a hand of five diamonds. He has declared a flush. I have a better hand that satisfies the conditions below.

From the clues below, can you work out the hand I am holding?

  1. I have at least one card of each suit.
  2. My ratio of Black Cards to Kings is 3:2.
  3. The sum of the values on my non–picture cards is a square number.
  4. There is a total of 3 eyes on the individual faces of my picture cards. (6, including the mirror images of the faces)
  5. I do not hold the King of Spades.

Answer = FULL HOUSE King of Diamonds, King Clubs, Three of Spades, Three of Clubs, Three of Hearts

My hand > flush. I have 2 Kings (clue 2) so my hand must be a full house of two Kings plus three other cards of the same denomination. These cards must be three 3s (clue 3). One of the kings must be the King of Diamonds (clue 4). There are three black cards (clue 2), so these must be the Three of Clubs, Three of Spades and King of Clubs (clue 5). As I hold at least one card of each suit (clue 1), then my hand must be King of Diamonds, King of Clubs, 3 of Spades, 3 of Clubs, 3 of Hearts.
