18/10/24 – Cinema Goers

Six friends Alan, Ben, Charles, David, Edith and Fiona sit together in a cinema. They sit in a row as below.

  1. Edith doesn’t wear a hat
  2. David doesn’t wear glasses
  3. Ben is not next to anyone in glasses
  4. Charles doesn’t have a beard nor is he next to Alan

From the clues above can you determine how the friends are sat in the cinema

BEN, FIONA, ALAN, EDITH, CHARLES, DAVID
Ben must be first in line (clue 3). As Charles doesn’t have a beard (clue 4), Alan and David must be the bearded ones. David doesn’t wear glasses (clue 2) so Alan is 3rd and David is 6th.  Charles is not next to Alan (clue 4) so he must be 5th. Edith doesn’t wear a hat (clue 1) so she must be 4th and Fiona must be 2nd.
