More than 25 Mensans attended South West Mensa's latest science talk, which was a virtual presentation on the development on electric and hybrid aircraft.

The speaker was Alan Pritchard FRAeS,  retired Technical Fellow of Boeing Airplane Company, who talked about the path to developing a practical 19 PAX pure electric commercial aircraft.

The concept, design, build, fabrication and route to certification was described, and Alan explained how, with no liquid fuel on board, the design exploited unique structural and production opportunities.
