Santa was talking with his favourite elf, Elphic.

Elphic says  “If I was 7 times my age, I would be 7 years older than you”

Santa says  “If I was 1⁄5 of my age I would be 5 years older than you”

How old are Santa and Elphic?

Elphic = 16 years old. Santa = 105 years old.
Let Elphic’s age be E and Santa’s be S.
Form two equations (1) 7E = S + 7, (2) S/5 = E + 5
From (2) S = 5E + 25. Substitute this in (1) 7E = 5E + 32.
