The development of electric vehicles over more than 100 years was the subject of the latest South West Mensa science cafe talk.

Chartered aerospace engineer Mike Hales, who is head of aerothermal excellence at Rolls Royce, explained how electric vehicles were developed 100 years ago, how they fell into the shadow of petrol-driven engines and how they are now enjoying a revival.

Thanks to Barry Cash and Ann Rootkin for organising the science cafe talks.
