A picture of a bashful squirrel peeking round a tree is the winner of this year's photographic competition.

The picture was taken by Victor Vas, of London, and was considered to best portray this year's theme of Shyness by the judges.

In second place was a shy pup hiding its face, entered by Anthony Leathart, of Swindon, and third was a picture of frog sheltering under a leaf, taken by Andy Rotherham, of Aylesbury.

All three win vouchers for the Mensa shop, and will now go forward to the Mensa International Photocup 2020.

The winners of the competition for members aged under 18 was eight-year-old Martha Hooton-Picard, of East Anglia, with a picture of a kitten peeping out of a picnic basket.
