Food hygiene – and the problems caused by a lack of it – were discussed in an enlightening talk and Q&A by environmental health expert Ken Rock.

About 66 Mensans took part in the online talk, the latest in the South West Science Talk series organised by Barry Cash and Ann Rootkin.

Ken entertained the audience with anecdotes from his 50 years working in environmental health, and outlined some of the risks we face when food isn't prepared or stored properly.

This covered everything from salmonella in eggs to why kissing the bride's auntie at a wedding can land you in hospital – and why you should always check out the public toilets before eating in a restaurant.

The video of the talk and Q& A is linked below. Check the events section for details of future talks.
