The use of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation to treat mental health conditions, including depression, was the subject of an interesting talk held as part of the virtual annual gathering.
The talk, by clinical psychologist Vinny Singh, was organised by South West Mensan Barry Cash and is the latest in a series of presentations which have been recorded and archived for members to catch up on.
rTMS is a non-invasive neuromodulation intervention that is used to treat a range of mental health disorders by passing an electromagnetic pulse through the brain. It was approved by the National Institute for Clinical Excellence in 2015 and is ever-growing in its popularity and clinical evidence base as a treatment for depression for both its efficacy and minimal side effects.
